After over twelve years of dedicated service, and eight years in leadership as our Executive Director, Lauren Sorg has announced that she will be leaving her position with Food Roots on June 30, 2023.
We want to express our deep gratitude for Lauren’s passion for our mission, vision and values, and her dedication during her tenure with the organization. Lauren’s experience and leadership in the last eight years as our Executive Director have generated stability and exciting growth during these collectively challenging times.
Some of Lauren’s major accomplishments in recent years have included increasing local engagement in our north coast food system through collaborations and increased community awareness, successfully overseeing multiple moves, building up an exceptional staff and volunteer base, deepening and diversifying the organization’s funding sources, and developing infrastructure and strategic partnerships that have increased food business vitality and improved access to locally grown and produced food through the Food Roots marketplace, delivery service, and other access-points. Lauren’s team-building, community-building, fundraising, and program direction, as well as her thoughtful transition planning, have set Food Roots up to continue to thrive.
While the Board will miss Lauren, we know she will continue to be a great supporter of Food Roots and this community, and we are excited to see the seeds she’s planted at Food Roots continue to bear fruit even after her departure. We look forward to collaborating with Lauren to make this transition smooth and seamless for the organization’s operations, staff, partners, and community.
Thank you for your support as well as for sharing the position posting widely to aid in our search for a great new addition to our dedicated and skilled Food Roots team.
With our gratitude,
Food Roots Board of Directors
